In the last two-three years, the trend of re-releasing old films has increased in Tollywood. The most special films of every star’s career are being released on their birthdays. Similarly, Mahesh Babu’s hit films like Okkadu, Pokiri and Businessman have also been re-released. Now another hit film of Mahesh Babu, Murari, is going to be released again.

However, Murari’s ticket sales are not limited to the Telugu states; fans in Bangalore, North America and Australia are also rushing to buy tickets. As of Tuesday (August 6), over one lakh tickets had been sold on the booking portal Book My Show. Murari is a family entertainer and it seems fans are ready to celebrate the film again.

Murari – Mahesh Babu’s second re-release too

Mahesh Babu’s film Businessman was re-released last year. More than one lakh tickets were sold for that film on Book My Show. In this way, Mahesh Babu has become the only actor whose films have sold more than one lakh tickets on Book My Show when re-released twice. Earlier, Tamil star Thalapathy Vijay’s film Ghilli had also sold more than one lakh tickets.

Interestingly, this film is a remake of Mahesh Babu’s Okkadu. However, Mahesh is the only actor to achieve this feat of having his films re-released twice in a row. Moreover, there is a possibility that Murari’s tickets will also sell out in theatres, adding another record to Mahesh’s account.

Murari Re-Release Box Office

Murari was released in 2001, before Mahesh Babu gained immense popularity in Tollywood. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, the film was a sensation at that time. Sonali Bendre played the lead female role. Being a family entertainer, Mahesh’s performance was highly appreciated by the audience. Mani Sharma’s music made the film even more appealing. The song Alanati Ramachandrudu is still played at many weddings. Mahesh received the Nandi Award in the Special Jury category for this film.
