James Cameron is not a man to mince words. He is outspoken on a variety of topics and continues to be a no-BS talker when interviewed.
And though it looked like he would be busy with ‘Avatar’ projects for the foreseeable future, he is someone who always has time to explore other ideas, even if he hands them over to other filmmakers.

The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down with him to discuss one of his new projects, a docuseries called ‘OceanXplorers’ that channels one of his other big passions: deep ocean diving.
Yet it was his comments about potentially something new in the ‘Terminator’ world that drew the most excitement…
What did James Cameron say about the new ‘Terminator’ project?
When asked about the upcoming ‘Terminator Zero’ animated project landing on Netflix on August 29th, he admitted that he had nothing to do with it but hoped it would be successful.
Still, more interestingly, He dropped the word of its own development in that field.
“I’m working on my own ‘Terminator’ material right now. It has nothing to do with it. Like ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’, they occasionally touched on things that I was playing with completely independently. It is totally classified. I don’t want to send a potentially dangerous robotic agent if you even talk about it retroactively.
Interesting! Despite its obvious need for secrecy, there’s a lot to look forward to about ‘Terminator’ that includes Cameron’s actual involvement. The movies and shows that followed its groundbreaking 1984 original and its more impressive sequel, ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, have been hit and miss (mostly, let’s be honest, misses, even 2019’s ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’, which made Cameron famous was. as a producer), but if he’s excited about something in the ‘Terminator’ world, we wouldn’t bet against someone who’s made one of the most successful films in history.
What else did James Cameron say?
One of the better answers Cameron gave in the interview was when he was asked about Roland Emmerich’s comments at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con about dropping the ‘Fantastic Voyage’ remake because Cameron (who wrote the draft and is still a producer) unmade the movie. ) was, to quote Emmerich, “overbearing.”
Here’s what Cameron had to say:
“I have never said anything negative about Roland. But anyway: yes, I’m arrogant. true When it’s a project where I’ve contributed writing, I can actually have an opinion on it. I don’t even really remember talking about ‘Fantastic’ with Roland Emmerich. I remember the other directors that we worked with for months trying to develop that project. If I spoke to Roland, it was for two minutes. I have a very good memory and I don’t remember it at all.”
There was one other topic that caused a hot-button response. Asked about complaints regarding the appearance of the new 4K transfers of ‘Aliens’ and ‘True Lies’.
This is what he said:
“When people start reviewing your cereal, they need to get out of mom’s basement and meet someone. right? I’m serious. I mean, are you kidding me? I have a great team that does transfers. I do all the color and density work. I see every shot, every frame, and then the final transfer is done by the person with me [for years]. All ‘Avatar’ films are made like that. Everything is done that way. Get a life seriously, people.”
Oh, James Cameron… never changes.
