First Look at ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’: While ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ in 2022 may have signaled the end for the franchise as it did with ‘Jurassic Park’ in 1993, it turns out that it was less of an extinction-level event and more of a brief hiatus between eras.
Because, far from letting the cash dinosaurs just idle away, Universal started making plans for another movie featuring the giant beasts and the humans who wanted to help, hunt, or even avoid being last year’s breakfast food.
What has now been officially named ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ has come together quickly, and now that shooting is still underway, we have our first look at some of the human characters played by Scarlett Johansson, ‘Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali.
What is the story of ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’?
In ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ directed by Gareth Edwards, paleontologist Dr. Jonathan Bailey as Henry Loomis and Scarlett Johansson as skilled covert operations specialist Jorah Bennett.
Here is the official synopsis for the new movie:
“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely unsuitable for dinosaurs. What remains survives in a secluded equatorial environment and the climate resembles the one in which they once thrived. They are the three most formidable dinosaurs in the tropical biosphere. Organisms hold the key to a medicine that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to mankind.”

Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations specialist who is contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from three of the world’s largest dinosaurs.
When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose sailing expedition is derailed by the capture of an aquatic dino, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face to face with a terrible, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

Bailey (who will also be seen in Universal’s ‘Wicked’ this Thanksgiving) paleontologist Dr. Henry plays Loomis.
Rupert Friend (last seen in ‘Asteroid City’) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krabs.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (‘The Lincoln Lawyer’) plays Ruben Delgado, the father of a shipwrecked civilian family.
The cast also includes Luna Blaze, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda as Ruben’s family. and, as Zora and Krabs’ crew members, Filipina Welge, Bachir Sylvain, and Ed Screen.
Who is making ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’?
‘The Creator’ director Gareth Edwards.
With longtime producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley returning to the new movie (and original ‘Park’ director Steven Spielberg as executive producer as usual), another big player was first hired as scriptwriter David Koep.
He, of course, wrote the first two ‘Jurassic’ movies, working on concepts and characters created by the original novelist Michael Crichton.
Directing this time is Gareth Edwards, known for the likes of 2010, 2014’s ‘Godzilla’, 2016’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and most recently for last year’s sci-fi pic ‘The Monsters’. is Creator.’

Amblin and Universal have scheduled the new ‘Jurassic’ outing for release on July 2nd, 2025.
